The CUELA measurement system (the German acronym "CUELA" stands for computer-based measurement and long-term analysis of stresses upon the musculoskeletal system) was developed at the IFA in order to permit measurement of stresses upon the musculoskeletal system occurring in a range of occupational tasks under actual working conditions directly at the workplace. CUELA is a personal measurement system employing modern sensor technology. It can be worn on the work clothing. The associated WIDAAN software enables the measured data to be interpreted automatically in accordance with ergonomic and biomechanical criteria. This enables conclusions to be drawn concerning the measures required for avoidance of work-related health hazards.

Within the "Think of me. Love, your back" prevention campaign, the DGUV offered interested members the opportunity to use the CUELA back test developed at the IFA at events such as health days or trade fairs. This test enables back stresses arising during various tasks to be presented visually. Wearing a jacket fitted with sensors, interested individuals simulate examples of everyday situations, such as unloading of a car boot or lifting of a load. Whilst they perform these tasks, they are able to view an online display of the corresponding compressive forces on the intervertebral discs. The events module as a whole comprises the measurement system, which is available in two different sizes, the associated computer, a display panel with a large screen, information material, and the components of the load test. Besides its inherent concept of information and self-awareness, the module can also be used to create competitions within a group to discover who is able to complete the test with the lowest stress upon the back.
