Survey of occupational and company physicians with regard to their perception of the handling of the dermatological procedure, in particular the company medical risk report on skin or the dermatological report and the reporting of suspected cases of illness

Project No. UVT BGW1658

Status:

ongoing

Aims:

Survey of occupational and company physicians with regard to knowledge and perception of the dermatological procedure and, if applicable, what obstacles exist to reporting cases of illness to the accident insurance institutions and how the number of reports (e.g. company medical risk report skin, dermatological report, medical report) can be increased.

Key objectives:

  1. Practicability of the reporting/notification procedure (company medical risk report skin (occupational skin disease (OSD) no. 5101): Why are suspected cases not reported? What should change in order to increase reporting?
  2. Practicability of the DGUV's skin procedure; 3) Acceptance and level of awareness of the individual prevention services offered as part of the DGUV's skin procedure.

Central questions (among others):

  1. How is the handling of the dermatological procedure, especially the company medical risk report skin or dermatological report, assessed? Which aspects are rated as negative/positive, which hurdles exist?
  2. Identification of the self-assessed relevance of hand eczema as defined by BK 5101 in everyday life; iii) Identification of knowledge about tasks, information obligations and strengths in the context of individual prevention measures due to the changed situation resulting from the change in occupational skin disease legislation.

Activities/Methods:

Development of a scientifically justified study concept / protocol including the selection of suitable survey instruments, in accordance with the input of the DGUV's Skin Working Group and the BGW's Rehabilitation Coordination, which are combined in a mixed-methods approach.

Development and implementation of a concept for the sequential implementation of a cross-sectional study:

  1. qualitative interviews (guided expert interviews),
  2. digital fully standardised survey (quantitative survey).

Publication of the study protocol as a study announcement in a relevant scientific journal (at the same time as recruitment). Survey and evaluation of occupational and company physicians in general (mainly recruitment via the DGAUM, VDBW, BsAfB, Aktionsbündnis Arbeitsmedizin).

Survey and evaluation of sub-cohorts:

  1. Occupational and occupational physicians with a focus on occupational dermatology or dual qualification (occupational medicine/dermatology); mainly recruited via ABD in the DDG;
  2. Young/aspiring occupational and occupational physicians (mainly recruited via ‘AG Next’). Recruitment via ‘AG Next Generation’ of the DGAUM; also via occupational medicine academies and the Aktionsbündnis Arbeitsmedizin);
  3. Comparison: (a) self-employed vs. employed occupational and occupational physicians; (b) and inter-company vs. ‘company-owned’ occupational health services.
