European partnership in the occupational safety and health research

Strain and hazards respect no borders

A total of thirteen national OSH research institutes met in Dublin on 7 November 2008 to form a European research partnership. The purpose is even closer networking of the scientific institutes and co-ordination of their research activities. PEROSH intends to conduct joint research projects and to be represented in Brussels from 2009 onwards by a dedicated co-ordinator for European affairs.

PEROSH stands for “Partnership for European Research in Occupational Safety and Health” and has been in existence since November 2003. What up to now has been a lobby has now become a research association in its own right which intends to address eight topical OSH issues on its own account in the coming years.

Current members of PEROSH are institutes from the Netherlands, Belgium, Great Britain, France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Germany. From Germany, the Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz und Arbeitsmedizin - BAuA (Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health - FIOSH)  and the Institut für Arbeitsschutz der Deutschen Gesetzlichen Unfallversicherung (IFA, Institute for occupational safety and health of the German Social Accident Insurance) are involved.
