Division 5: Accident prevention, Product safety

Division 5 covers a broad field ranging from product safety to accident prevention as these relate to industrial products. The focus here includes technical measures to protect people from mechanical hazards, including efforts to set safety standards (standards, testing recommendations, etc.). Along with research and advising in the areas of accident prevention and product safety, the division is also intensely involved in testing and certifying protective devices, machines, plant and personal protective equipment.
